Getting Creative in the Lab

Our recent CreativeLab Residency, led by Sarah Blanc and Vanessa Abreu, brought together a group of participants to explore their creative and choreographic voices in a supportive, inclusive space.

Over the course of the week, a group of young artists came together to explore, take risks, and share their creativity in a space built on openness and care. What stood out most wasn’t just the work being made, but the shifts happening within it – artists growing in confidence, finding their voice, and beginning to say, with real clarity: I am an artist.

There was a strong sense of joy, curiosity, and mutual support, with participants forming connections we know will last well beyond the week itself.

We also heard a powerful message about what’s needed next. Alongside the excitement and energy, artists told us they want more time, more depth, and more opportunities to keep developing – from mentoring and career guidance to simply having space to keep making and experimenting.

CreativeLab felt like a beginning: a place where ideas sparked, confidence grew, and possibilities opened up. It’s a reminder of what can happen when young people are given the space, support, and belief to create on their own terms – and why it’s so important we keep building on this together.
