Mirabelle Haddon

Candoco Teaching Artist
Mirabelle (she/her) is a Deaf dance and performance artist based in London, whose creative practice explores the intersections of Queerness and Disability.

With a foundation in contemporary dance, having trained at the NYDC, with Rambert School and now with Verve, Mirabelle’s work centres the body as a site of expression, while engaging with the complex realities of being Deaf and disabled. Through their art, they actively challenge the notion of visibility, seeking to create space for marginalised voices.

Mirabelle’s performances have graced prominent venues such as Sadler’s Wells Theatre, The Place Theatre, and the Royal Opera House, as well as stages in Oslo, Venice, and Italy, where they continue to push the boundaries of performance and representation.

In addition to their performance career, Mirabelle’s teaching practice is deeply influenced by their own lived experiences in both mainstream and disability-led spaces. They aim to cultivate a dynamic, adaptable environment where the needs of participants are prioritised. By fostering a shared, “in flux” space, Mirabelle emphasises a teaching approach free from surveillance, focusing instead on listening to the body through a variety of improvisational scores. Their classes are rooted in physicality, repetition, and the raw energy of movement, providing a space for exploration and creative expression.
