Teacher Training | Fundamentals
This training blends movement exploration, improvisation, and practical teaching strategies with insightful discussions on accessibility, communication, and adaptability. Whether you’re new to inclusive dance or looking to deepen your skills, this course will give you the skills to lead with confidence.
Candoco will support teachers / facilitators to:
- Create accessible lesson plans for your practice
- Identify and address participant barriers and access in dance
- Explore movement translation and teaching approaches for diverse needs
- Explore fundamental disability theory
- Adapt the learnings to their own teaching needs
What You will Gain:

This training will be led by our Co-Artistic Director Dominic Mitchell and a Candoco Teaching Artist (CTA).
No prior experience with inclusive dance is required – just a passion for teaching and a willingness to explore new ways of moving!
Suitable for teachers working in dance, performing arts, community and education settings. No prior teaching experience required, but recommended. It supports those just beginning to learn how to become more inclusive in their practice.

BURSARIES:
Candoco is offering the opportunity for two facilitators to join the 2-day training at a subsidised rate of £125. This reduced rate is intended for participants who are committed to joining the training but require financial assistance to do so. This opportunity is open to individuals who meet any of the following criteria: lack of disposable income, receive universal credit, face debt that compromises basic needs, experience chronic illness or disability affecting income generation, incur immigration-related expenses, or are elders with limited financial support. If the facilitators meet at least one of the criteria, they should apply using our form and will be selected through a lottery-based selection process.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:
To streamline administrative tasks for our small team, we are unable to provide refunds or transfer bookings for cancellations or non-attendance at a class. However, in the event of a cancellation or change initiated by Candoco, we will facilitate refunds or transfers for all affected bookings.
