Dedicated to…

Candoco Dance Company met Caroline Bowditch way back in 1996 when Candoco made its first visit to Australia. It marked Caroline’s first experience of contact improvisation and, in her own words, “landed me in my skin for the first time in my life”.

Since then Caroline has choreographed/performed work as girl jonah with Fiona Wright, created her own work Proband (2007) after being awarded a Wellcome Trust Arts Grant and co-created NQR and the Long and the Short of it as Scottish Dance Theatre’s Dance Agent for Change (2008-2012). In 2012, Caroline created Leaving Limbo Landing for the Cultural Olympiad and in 2014 created Falling in Love with Frida, which was awarded a prestigious Herald Angel award, and continues to tour locally and internationally. She was recently commissioned by Unlimited and the Northern Festivals Network, to create and tour The Adventures of Snigel. Dedicated to women, to love, to life, to friendship. In her new work for Candoco, Caroline Bowditch reveals the extraordinary bonds we make throughout our lives. Dedicated to… is a celebration of female strength, support and friendship. The duet explores how people come in and out of our lives, how friendships evolve and adapt and how they can shape who we are.

Dedicated to… is commissioned by Without Walls, managed by XTRAX, is a consortium of the UK’s leading outdoor arts festivals and organisations, and brings the best in new outdoor performance to diverse audiences all over the UK. It provides opportunities for UK artists to develop bold new ideas – from large-scale spectaculars to more intimate pieces – and is inclusive of all art forms and genres.
