FULL PROGRAMME

• Day 1 – Community Activities: Company Presentation and Open-Level Movement Classes:
  

• • Presentation
    We will share a presentation covering Candoco’s history, methodology, and some of the approaches and key theories within the scholarship of crip/inclusive practices. Participants will then have the opportunity to explore these practices in our movement classes.
  • Movement Classes
    There will be two movement classes: one led by our Co-Artistic Director, Dominic Mitchell, incorporating Katherine Dunham’s philosophy and practice, and one taught by our Candoco Teaching Artist Kitty Fedorec, covering their own creative practice.

• Day 2 – Teacher Training: Accessible Pedagogy, Improvisational Tasks, Theory, Movement Classes:
  

• • Accessible Pedagogy
    This session will focus on inclusive teaching practices and responsive pedagogy. In this class, participants will begin to consider the ways in which they can be responsive to individuals’ needs and it will explore improvisational tasks suitable for inclusive dance classes.
  • Improvisational Tasks
    Facilitators will provide dancers with improvisational tasks to perform. They are treated as “scores,” meaning they can be performed and repeated. Although each performance of the score may vary, the composition and chronology tend to remain consistent and repeatable.
  • Theory and Movement Classes
    During this session, a brief overview of relevant theory will be presented, with a focus on the specific tasks covered in the workshop. We will also facilitate practical sessions to apply the concepts learned.
