10 Day Training Residency for No Limits 2025, Hong Kong

2024
Candoco will facilitate a two-week residency (30 September - 11 October) in preparation for No Limits 2025 in Hong Kong tailored for performing and teaching artists, facilitators, makers, educators and others in the field.

Led by Candoco Dance Company’s Co-Artistic Director, Dominic Mitchell and Candoco Teaching Artist, Paulina Porwollik, this teaching residency offers methodologies for inclusive teaching and performance practices.

This teacher-training intensive seamlessly integrates theoretical and reflective sessions with practical and creative exercises, offering flexible learning pathways that allow participants to tailor their learnings to their specific teaching needs. It fosters skill development, enhances communication, and builds confidence in working with both disabled and non-disabled students.

By the end of the residency, participants will:

  • Build essential tools for flexibility and adaptability to support a more responsive teaching approach
  • Develop lesson plans that are personalised to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Gain a basic understanding of disability theory and advocacy

In addition, this residency will:

  • Challenge the ideas around what best practice and inclusive teaching might involve
  • Encourage openness and curiosity to explore new and creative ways of teaching
  • Nurture creativity, helping both students and teachers to keep learning and reach their full artistic potential
