Flipside

2014
In 2014 Candoco Dance Company linked up with leading arts organisations and Platform’s six Young Creative Producers to encourage local young people to get creative. Flipside was a combined arts project for young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 for disabled young people), running every Thursday from January 2014 through to Easter 2014.

Following on from the success of the previous year, cross arts youth project, aptly named Occupy – This year’s chosen title is Flipside the creation of your imagination’. Through exploration and ideas of what Flipside means to them, the artists, Young Creative Producers and participating young people decided both the approach and creative outcomes of the project. The years promise was to ‘not be like anything you have ever seen before’ and if the last year’s community sharing of ‘secret meetings’ of mysterious moustached characters and balls of wool being hung from every bannister in the building is anything to go by, you won’t have been disappointed!

“I love the Occupy project because it really is nothing like I’ve seen before, it taught me that an artistic process never goes in a straight line and you can create amazing dances from dust!”
Emma Townsend (18), Young Creative Producer
