CreativeLab

Develop your choreographic practice with CreativeLab - a dynamic, week-long intensive for young D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, and non-disabled dance artists!

CreativeLab is an intensive for young, D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent and non-disabled people (aged 16-25) – designed to support emerging artists in developing their own choreographic voice. Over the course of one week, you’ll be challenged to explore what choreography is – and what it can become. Offering a space to be bold and experiment, CreativeLab will allow you to discover new ways of moving, expressing ideas, and making art that reflects who you are.

Led by guest choreographers and experienced artists, CreativeLab offers a supportive space to create original material, both independently and in collaboration with other young makers. You’ll delve into a range of choreographic methods and techniques while being encouraged to push the boundaries of your practice and bring your most authentic ideas to life.

You’ll also have opportunities to connect with established dance companies and independent artists, gaining valuable insight into the diverse pathways a career in dance can take.

CreativeLab is for young disabled and non-disabled artists (of all backgrounds and experience) who have a deep commitment to developing their choreographic practice. It’s more than a learning programme – it’s a launchpad to grow, experiment, and evolve as an artist. Whether you’re just beginning your journey into choreography or looking to deepen your existing skills – this is your opportunity to turn your passions into professional experience – taking your career to the next level.

You will engage in:

    • Creative Exploration – Develop choreographic ideas in a supportive environment.
    • Community – Connect with fellow artists and local communities to collaborate, create, and deepen their connection to their identity and the communities they belong to.
    • Inclusive Practice – Experience an approach that puts accessibility and disability experiences at the forefront.
    • Networking – Introductions to broader dance networks, enabling them to envision their place in the industry, explore development opportunities, and access valuable networking connections.
    • Diverse Dance Forms – Explore and engage with a wide range of dance styles

The week will conclude with a live sharing on 15 August 2025, where friends, family, and fellow artists are invited to celebrate your creative journey.

Applications will open soon – stay tuned for more announcements!
