Candoco offers an annual Teacher Training Intensive workshop alongside other resources to support and inspire inclusive dance teaching.

Candoco offers Teacher Training Intensives to support and inspire inclusive dance teaching. Grounded in inclusive methodologies, our Teacher Training programme equips participants with practical and theoretical tools they can adapt to their own teaching needs – ensuring a personalised and meaningful experience. Through this training, participants enhance their skills, communication, and confidence when working with both disabled and non-disabled participants. They are encouraged to develop foundational skills that increase their adaptability and flexibility, fostering a more responsive teaching approach. The programme also focuses on developing tools for creating personalised lesson plans and generating a fundamental understanding of disability theory and advocacy.

The teachers training programme will support in…

  • Questioning perceptions of what best practice and inclusive teaching might be
  • Inspiring a spirit of openness and curiosity to find new ways of working
  • Nurturing creativity so that students and teachers continue to learn and fulfil their artistic potential

Participants will…

  • Develop foundational skills for adaptability and flexibility in responsive movement-based teaching
  • Generate lesson plans and exercises based on Candoco’s methodology
  • Gain an understanding of disability theory and advocacy

We offer Teacher Training sessions and workshops both through our own events and with external organisations and institutions. Ideal for schools, colleges, and dance organisations, these sessions introduce our inclusive approach to practice and offer participants valuable insight into the ethos that drives our work.

Looking for something more tailored? We also deliver bespoke Teacher Training at your location, designed to meet the specific needs and interests of your group. If you’d like to explore a customised session, please contact our Learning team – we would love to connect with you!
