Jo joined Candoco Dance Company from the Gate Theatre, Notting Hill where she was Executive Director from 2016 – 2018. During her tenure at the Gate, she worked with outgoing Artistic Director Christopher Haydon on his final season, and subsequently with new Artistic Director Ellen McDougall to deliver her first season, which included the hugely successful collaboration with English National Opera, Effigies of Wickedness.
Jo graduated from Warwick University with a first-class BA Hons in Theatre and Performance Studies. Shortly after, she joined the marketing team at Brighton Dome & Festival where she worked on the 2004 festival. Moving to London and into the commercial sector, Jo then worked as Programming Assistant at Clear Channel Entertainment (which later became Live Nation UK), booking and planning the schedule for 21 regional theatres, including Birmingham Alexandra, Bristol Hippodrome and Liverpool Playhouse.
Joining live music producers, Serious in 2007, she spent five years working on projects including London Jazz Festival, Celebration of Life for the Metropolitan Black Police Association and BT River of Music, a two day festival which formed part of the London 2012 Festival and Cultural Olympiad. Her role included a mixture of fundraising (from the charitable and corporate sectors), project management and stakeholder relations.
In 2012, she moved to the Development team at the National Theatre. As Senior Corporate Development Manager, she managed major sponsorship accounts for American Express, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Neptune Investment Management as well as working with the corporate team to build new relationships with the corporate sector.
