Double bill at ACCA, Brighton

Face In by Yasmeen Godder. Photography by Hugo Glendinning, 2017

As part of undisciplined festival presented by South East Dance, Candoco Dance Company invites you to enjoy a dramatic and powerful new double bill. Visual artist Hetain Patel’s Let’s Talk About Dis returns to challenge notions of identity and appearances, while Yasmeen Godder’s Face In is a sensual and disturbing ode to intimacy and imagination, where images are interwoven with daring and uninhibited dance.

Let’s Talk About Dis is a playful and intimate piece that builds on an exploration of the dancers’ personalities and bodies, interrogating questions of what identity is and how it is formed. With seductive charm, Hetain challenges audiences to think beyond surface appearances, exposing hidden prejudices and absurd political correctness.

Yasmeen Godder’s new work for Candoco, Face In, is a sensual and disturbing ode to intimacy and imagination, expressed through striking images and daring uninhibited dance. Set to an urban indie score, Candoco invites you to bask in this wild fictional world that feels uncomfortably familiar yet strangely distorted. A world that Candoco’s dancers inhabit with ease: performing with pleasure, revealing the extreme of themselves and flirting with both the banal and the ridiculous.

Suitable for all ages, however does explore some adult themes. Contact info@candoco.co.uk for more information.
