I'm Kuldip Singh-Barmi. I'm a performer, teacher and improviser. I completed my training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 1991 and have been involved in the world of dance and movement ever since. As a performer I was a founder member of Candoco Dance Company and I have worked with a variety of companies and choreographers such as Emilyn Claid, Lloyd Newson, Siobhan Davies, Victoria Marks, Darshan Singh Bhuller, Annabel Arden, Attik Dance, Kompany Malakhi, Freefall Dance Company, RJC Dance Company, Fidget Feet Aerial Dance and Company Pyke touring nationally and internationally.
I am currently a Senior Lecturer/Course Co-ordinator in the Dance & Choreography Department at Falmouth University. Since joining the Dance & Choreography team at Falmouth I have received a Teaching Excellence award and Outstanding Teaching Award.
You’re working with Candoco again after first dancing with us 27 years ago, what brought you back for this?
It’s a real pleasure to be back with the company again for this project, the combined energy of the Candoco dancers and Strictly dancers is intoxicating as we work together to find a kind of shared language.
