I joined Candoco Dance Company in October 2016, having previously been Executive Director at Luca Silvestrini’s Protein. Prior to that I worked in the classical music sector, earning my stripes in finance, marketing, development and administration at the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Mozart Players and ROSL Arts.
The reason for this is my background in music as a French horn player, studying as a postgraduate at the Royal College of Music after a completing a degree in music at Edinburgh University. I still perform concerts with many ensembles in the south east and abroad – as many as I can manage around a hectic work schedule!
Coming into the company at a turbulent time politically and financially, I am aware that my role of keeping the show on the road is challenging. However, the Candoco team and belief in our work is strong, and my role is to drive that passion into a vibrant future that keeps us at the forefront of cutting-edge dance and changing perceptions of disability.
My favourite Candoco event (so far) is the restaging of The Show Must Go On; but the range of activities undertaken – from performances on the Sadler’s Wells stage and Cando2 shows to choreographic labs and workshops in schools and communities – is huge, and I am sure I shall gain a new favourite soon.
