Iris Chan

Iris joined Candoco as General Manager in March 2018, covering for Joanne who is on maternity leave.

Originally from Hong Kong, Iris has worked in a variety of roles within the dance sector as performer, administrator, project co-ordinator, to more recently as an independent producer.

Iris studied BA (Hons) Dance & Culture at University of Surrey and began her career in arts management as administrator at Independent Dance (2008-2013). She also worked with other organisations including Siobhan Davies Dance, The Place, and Dance Research Studio, whilst developing her performance and dance practice which later led to an MA at London Contemporary Dance School.

Since 2015 Iris has been a freelance producer and manager working with Protein, JW3, Society for Dance Research, and Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund. Following a placement on South East Dance’s Producer Development Scheme she has been working with a range of independent dance artists, and currently producing for choregraphers Matthias Sperling and Robert Clark.

As a performer and dancer Iris has been working mainly in visual art, gallery/museum and site-specific contexts with artists such as Florence Peake, Pablo Bronstein, Laura Wilson, Robert Clark and others.

Iris first encountered Candoco almost 10 years ago whilst taking classes with the company at Independent Dance and is delighted to be working with the company during this exciting time of new artistic direction and to be supporting a team of very talented and very hard-working colleagues!
