I joined Candoco in July 2016 to help part-time with some of the day-to-day admin that keeps a company ticking and to support the team with the thought-provoking new Creative Europe project Moving Beyond Inclusion. I instantly fell in love with the company, its ethos and the brilliant work, and didn’t think twice when I was offered the full-time role of Assistant Producer (Programme & Touring) in June 2017. I’m since looking after the logistics around the creation of new work, produce the outdoor duets, and help getting the main company on tour around the world, from Manchester to Cairo to Miami to Letchworth.
My highlight so far was the re-staging of Jérôme Bel’s iconic The Show Must Go On for a two-week tour to France as part of Festival d’Automne in December 2017. A mammoth task. But seeing the company on stage in Paris with audiences in tears was the best reward I could imagine. In 2018 I’m looking forward to Candoco returning to Sadler’s Wells and to joining the company to Korea for the premiere of our newest piece choreographed by Eun-Me Ahn.
When not in the Candoco office, I work as an independent Dramaturg and Creative Producer with writer, musician and performer Christopher Brett Bailey. I have always combined my freelance practice with a variety of other roles – from fundraising to project management – which has brought me to wonderful venues and companies, including The Basement / SICK! Festival, Sadler’s Wells and Siobhan Davies Dance. I’m thrilled to now be part of the Candoco family.
