Caroline Lofthouse

Candoco Artist, Caroline Lofthouse

Caroline trained at London Contemporary Dance School, graduating in 1997. After which, she worked as an Independent Dance Artist for 11 years and performed extensively with Loop Dance Company. She has worked with many leading choreographers such as Jonzi D, Yael Flexer and Filip Van Huffel. In 2008, she joined Kingston University's Dance Department, where she is a Senior Lecturer in Dance. Caroline’s journey with Candoco began in 2004 when she was invited to teach technique on the Foundation Course for Disabled Dancers, this led to work as an Associate Artist on the ADAPT and Moving Bodies programmes and guest teaching company class. In 2006 Caroline returned to LCDS, receiving a Fund for Excellence to gain an MA in Dance Training and Education. Her practice-as-research MA thesis was concerned with methods of inclusion within the contemporary dance technique class.

Caroline has taught for The Place Learning and Access and as a faculty member for London Contemporary Dance School, Middlesex and Roehampton Universities. Recent choreographic credits include Façade (2018, for International Youth Arts Festival) Bloodlines (2013/4, collaboration with Alex Mermikides) and BodyStories (2013, collaboration with Jo Read).

Caroline is also a mother of two and a yoga teacher.
